Silver coin Golden Prague proof | Czech Mint
The Mint says about this coin:
Product description For ages, Prague had inspired poets, composers and painters. It attracts attention of tourist from all over the world and ranks among places a man wishes to visit at least once in his life. Czech Mint has expressed its admiration for Prague with another charming one-ounce silver coin Golden Prague denominated 2 NZD. Apart from being a beautiful piece of art, it also represents an opportunity for a clever investment – because of the current temporary decline of prices of precious metals. It certainly deserves a prominent place in your numismatic collections. The untraditional composition of the coin is the work of academic sculptor Vladimír Oppl. On the reverse he placed the distinguished coat-of-arms of old Prague featuring an escutcheon and the castle wall with battlements and an open gate. Three golden spires above consist of blocks which determine the number of cadastre areas. The escutcheon is decorated with three helmets with crowns – and above the central one we can read “Praha Caput Regni“, a motto used since Middle Ages which has been placed on the Old Town Hall since 1518. The obverse of the coin features three circular scenes: Queen Elizabeth II, Charles bridge and an untraditional view of the Prague Castle (Hradčany) from the Old Town square. At the edge of the coin we can see the name of the Queen, weight and fineness of silver, denomination of the coin (1 dollar), the year of issue (2014) and the name of the issuer (Niue Island).
