This stunning depiction of the moon took the shape of a domed convex silver coin by Niue. As the first coin of a new Solar System series, this 1 oz 999 silver slice in ultrahigh relief shows the correct form and surface of the moon with multiple true to life craters! The coin boasts a real moon meteorite inlay taken from NWA 8609, or North West Africa 8609. With the limited mintage of only 686 pieces worldwide, this moon coin comes housed in a luxury wooden box with a CoA included. The unique obverse design is an amazing replica of the moon, the earth’s only natural satellite. There is also a small effigy of Her Majesty Elizabeth II surrounded by the following inscriptions: the Queen’s name, the coin’s metal fineness, issuing country and year. The face value of the coin is indicated below. The reverse with its domed convex antique finish surface, relief craters and a real moon meteorite is what will take your breath away. The NWA 8609 Meteorite is believed to have been ejected from the moon’s crust after a large impact event. Subsequently it was discovered in 2014 and reportedly found in Morocco. The meteorite weighed 45g and was a dark brown stone with an irregular weathered surface. It’s classified as an Achondrite. All packaged in a nice quality wooden box, it’s easy to see the appeal of the unusual moon coin. An extremely interesting collector’s item!
