" series brings some legendary warriors in human history to life. This silver coin shows a colored illustration of a Spartan soldier in full battle-gear. Sparta is a city in Laconia, Greece. In 404 B.C. Sparta reached ist height of power. The spartan culture was based on loyalty to the state and to the military service. Spartan men were professional soldiers. The spartan women were not active in the military, they enjoyed more freedom and status than other greek women. Marriage was important to the spartan people. The State put pressure on them to have male children who would grow up to become warriors.
