Solar System Incredible 50 years have passed in 2019 since a human stood on the moon. The Czech Mint issued silver coin on the occasion of the anniversary of this historic milestone. "In this decade, we have decided to reach the Moon and do other things - not because they are easy, but because they are difficult." President John Fitzgerald Kennedy spoke to American citizens on September 12, 1962. He knew that his speech had to be confident and tempting, because society felt depressed. "Space races" have not been doing well in the United States. The Soviet Union, which collected one success after another, launched its first artificial satellite on October 4, 1957, sent the first man to space on April 4, 1961, and, like the US, also concentrated on the moon. And it did well again. After the Soviet unmanned spacecraft Luna 9 visited the Moon on February 3, 1966, only the human foot would have to touch the nearest Earth fellow. But the United States of America, as JFK predicted, won this primacy. The Saturn V rocket launched the Apollo 11 spacecraft, whose lunar module Eagle landed on the Moon on July 20, 1969. Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin were the first to leave their traces in the moon's dust and return to Earth. Neil Armstrong´s words spoken on the surface of the Moon will forever be written into history: "It's a small step for human, a huge leap for mankind." The medal maker and teacher MgA. Josef Oplištil became the author of the coin. The reverse side is dominated by an astronaut holding an American flag stuck in the moon's surface. The Earth's orbits and other planets around the Sun are visible in the background. This composition is followed by the processing of the obverse side which still bears the attributes of the island of Niue, which provides the Czech Mint with a foreign license to issue its own commemorative coins. They are the name and the portrait of Elizabeth II, the nominal value of 2 DOLLARS (NZD) and the year of the issue 2019. The coin is part of a collector´s cycle called the Solar System.
