Silver coin Inventions of Leonardo da Vinci - Fighting Vehicle proof | Czech Mint The Mint says about this coin: Inventions of Leonardo da Vinci The Czech Mint closes the miniseries entitled Inventions of Leonardo da Vinci by its fourth issue. The silver coin shows Leonardo's tank. Leonardo da Vinci designed a covered war car in 1482. He wrote in his diary at the time: “I can make armored cars, safe and impregnable, which reach the front ranks of enemy troops. They would send death with their cannons and rifles. ” This car was supposed not only to break through the enemy lines, but also to protect its own soldiers. Exactly this tactic was used four centuries later - during the First World War, when the British deployed the first real tanks. Leonardo's machine had the shape of a round tent - around the perimeter of the barrel and a small observation was placed on the top. The surface of the cloak was not perpendicular, but beveled, and the armor should better deflect enemy missiles. Although this project never left the drawing board, it counted a crew of eight men. They would fire from the guns and drive wheels connected to the transmission system by the crankshaft - independently of the left and right sides of the car. However, modern students found out that the transfers were poorly designed and the tank could never move with their help. However, historians agree that this mistake was made by a peaceful engineer deliberately to make it impossible to construct the invention if the plans fell into the wrong hands. The whole miniseries was made by the medal maker Asamat Baltaev, DiS. He was inspired by Leonardo's notes when creating the reverse side - the Renaissance Maestro looks down on a tank drawing with notes. The composition of the reverse side is closed by the English inscription FIGHTING VEHICLE (or war car). The obverse side of the coin then presents all the inventions that have gradually appeared in the miniseries - a helicopter, a glider, a machine gun and a tank. All this is linked to the attributes of the island of Niue, which provides the Czech Mint with a foreign license to coin its own commemorative coins. Since then the coins bear the profile and the name of Queen Elizabeth II, the nominal value of 1 DOLLAR (NZD) and the year of the issue 2019. You can store the complete collection of Leonardo da Vinci's inventions in a thematic collector´s box, which can also be found in the offer of the Czech Mint. More Less | ||||||
