Crystal Coin The unique silver coins with cut Czech crystal are the result of a combination of traditional Jablonec crafts - the medal making of the Czech Mint and the glassworks of the Preciosa company which is unprecedented in the whole world. The motif of the Tree of Life became a new addition to the Crystal Coin gift line in 2020. The coins were quickly sold out and a re-edition with autumn crystal leaves and selective gilding was published due to strong interest. Trees provide us with the oxygen we breathe, the fruit that strengthens us, the wood that warms and protects us, and last but not least, they are a sight for eyes and soul. Each of us should have deep roots, a strong trunk and a rich crown like a healthy tree. It is no wonder that trees belong to the most revered symbols in the world and that important trees can be found in most of the world's cultures. For example, the Bible tells of a tree of knowledge — an apple tree, a symbol of immaculate humanity, whose forbidden fruit was tasted by Eve. On the contrary, Chinese mythology tells of a peach - its roots are guarded by a dragon, the crown is protected by a phoenix, and the only fruit that is born every three thousand years ensures immortality. In the Nordic sagas there is Yggdrasil - an ash tree that permeates all planes of existence and represents the universe. Whether their meaning is religious, philosophical or folklore, all these trees express the ancient concept of the "Tree of Life", which symbolizes the unity and interconnection of all creatures. The medal maker Petra Brodská, DiS. dedicated the reverse side of the coin to a traditional depiction of the Tree of Life in a circular composition, while cut crystal stones form the leaves of the tree. The Czech-English inscription presents STROM ŽIVOTA - TREE OF LIFE. Since the coins of the Czech Mint are issued with a license of a foreign issuer, the island of Niue, their obverse side bears its necessary elements – the nominal value of 2 DOLLARS (NZD), year of issue 2020, the name of Elizabeth II. and a portrait of the queen, which is surrounded by decorative branches.
