Continuing a successful Gods of Olympus series the second release features Hades, the lord of the Underworld in Ancient Greek mythology, embodied in a remarkable 3.7 mm high relief. Struck from 2 oz silver 999, the coin is also antique finished and rose gold plated. Each coin comes housed in a stylized presentation box. Only 500 pieces issued! The obverse of the Niue coin comprises the effigy of Her Majesty Elizabeth II and traditional inscriptions: the Queen’s name, the face value of the coin, its issuing year and country. The 50 mm reverse includes a stunning high relief image of Hades with the rose gold relief Cerberus by his side. Hades was the ruler of the underworld, which eventually took his name, and was also known as the God of Wealth, as all the wealth went from his realm – harvest and precious metals. Hades is often depicted as sitting on the throne with his three headed watchdog Cerberus.
