This silver commemorative coin issued by Narodowy Bank Polski is a real treat for coin collectors and fans of Legia Warszawa, the most successful football club in the history of Polish sport. This is the third issue of the series devoted to Polish football clubs. Legia Warszawa was founded in 1916 during World War I by soldiers of Polish Legions. The name “Legia” was proposed by Stanisław Mielech, one of its co-founders. He was a soldier, footballer, journalist and doctor of laws. Today, Legia Warszawa goes back to its original multi-section structure. Young sportsmen train here in various sports disciplines, including basketball, volleyball, swimming, tennis, rugby, judo, boxing, skating and wrestling.

In the central part of the coin – image of the coat of arms eagle established as the national emblem of the Republic of Poland inscribed in a regular pentagon. Below the left talon of the eagle – mint mark: m/w. Around the pentagon – issuing country: RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA (the Republic of Poland). Below it – year of issue: 2016, face value: 5 ZŁ. In the background – stylized decorative surface.

Left-hand – effigy of Stanisław Mielech, soldier of Polish Legions, co-founder of the club and inventor of its name.
