The Mint says about this coin:
“Florin of Władysław I the Elbow-high” is the 6th silver commemorative coin from the series “The History of Polish Coin” issued by the National Bank of Poland. Minted in .925 sterling silver Commemorative and historical value Fusion of traditional and contemporary coinage Limited mintage Attractive design! Florins of Władysław I the Elbow-high were issued thanks to the double indulgence in honor of St. Stanislaus. Gold gathered during the event enabled the king to strike his own coins. The mintage, estimated at several thousand pieces, was not high. Only one gold florin out of the whole emission preserved. For the time being it crowns the collection of Emeryk Hutten-Czapski. The obverse of the coin depicts Władysław I the Elbow-high wearing a crown on his head and holding the attributes of kingly power in his hands. Circular inscription “WLADISLAVS D[e]I G[ratia] REX” means “Ladislas, the King by the Grace of God”. The reverse of the coin depicts St. Stanislaus wearing a mitre on his head and holding a crosier in his left hand. Circular inscription „S(anctus) STANISLAVS POL(oni)E” stands for „Saint Stanislaus of Poland”. Denomination: 20 zloty Material: Ag 925 Quality: proof Weight: 28.28 g Date of issue: March 2015 |
