Silver Five Ounces 2023 Year of the Rabbit, Coin from Solomon Islands - detailed information

The obverse of the coin shows the crowned mature head of Queen Elizabeth II facing right (her effigy known as the "Fourth Portrait"). The Queen wears the "Girls of Great Britain and Ireland" diamond tiara, a wedding gift from Queen Mary (Her Majesty's grandmother) in 1947 - which she also has on the Machin and the Gottwald portraits.

In small letters below the head, the artist's initials IRB (for Ian Rank-Broadley).

Around the effigy is the monarch's legend, the date of issue and the value: ELIZABETH II · SOLOMON ISLANDS 2023 · 10 DOLLARS · 5 oz 999 SILVER ·.

The legend also incorporates the metal content: "5 oz 999 SILVER" means "five troy ounces of 99.9% silver".

The reverse design features a mother rabbit and her two baby bunnies, surrounded by the blossoms of a cherry tree. In a square on the left, the Chinese character for "rabbit": 兔.

The rabbits and the character are gold plated.

Finish: black proof, selective gold plating.
Packaging: in display box, with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

The coin was issued after the death of Queen Elizabeth II and during the reign of King Charles III, but carries the effigy of the late Queen.
