Black Rhino - 1/4 Oz | EMK.com The Mint says about this coin: Description Natura Series - Black Rhino 1/4 Oz Gold - Proof 99.99% pure Gold Limited Mintage only 3,000 pieces With Certificate of Authenticity Delivery in original Box The South African Mint dedicated this issue of the Natura series to the Black Rhino . Released in 1994, the Natura series pays tribute to animals native to Africa. The motive of the coin struck from a 1/4 ounce of 99.99% pure gold features a depiction of two rhinos within the shadowy outline of another rhino. The respective denomination, the inscription "NATURA" and the weight and fineness of the coin are also part of the design. The reverse shows another depiction of a rhinoceros as well as the year of issue "2010" and the inscriptions "South Africa" and "Diceros bicornis". The black rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis) is the second and slightly smaller rhino species of the African continent, after the white rhino (Ceratotherium simum). It reaches a head-torso length of 3.5 meters, a shoulder height of 1.6 meters and a weight of up to 1.4 tons. The rhino bulls are significantly larger and bulkier than the rhino cows. The mammals are found in the savannas and open landscapes of East and Southern Africa. There they mainly feed on soft plants such as leaves, twigs, branches, bark and thorns. Limited to 3,000 pieces worldwide, the Natura Coin - Black Rhino is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity. | ||||||
