Young Collectors Henry Morgan Pirate $1 Coin | The Perth Mint
The Mint says about this coin:
Second Release in Five-Coin Series Notorious Pirate Reverse Design Aluminium Bronze $1 Coin Tuvalu Legal Tender Presentation Card Australian $1 Coin Collectors’ Album available for purchase here.
Avast ye mateys! Since the first release of the $1 Blackbeard Coin, this seafaring pirate series has proved popular plunder for young collectors. Sir Henry Morgan (Ca. 1635 -1688) was amongst the most successful and most pitiless pirates who ever sailed the Spanish Main. Morgan was infamous for his habit of torturing hapless captives to obtain tactical information. Notorious Pirate Reverse Design The coin’s reverse depicts Henry Morgan against the backdrop of a pirate ship. The design includes a coloured representation of a pirate chest, two barrels (hogsheads) and a bottle of rum, and also incorporates The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark. Aluminium Bronze $1 Coin Each coin is struck by The Perth Mint in aluminium bronze. Tuvalu Legal Tender Each coin is issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu. The Raphael Maklouf effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the 2011 year-date appears on the obverse. Presentation Card The coin is housed on an illustrated presentation card. Each of the cards in this series have been especially designed to fit together to make a great pirate poster montage.
