Rare Beauties Extraordinary Gemstones 2017 Stamp and Coin Cover | The Perth Mint
The Mint says about this coin:
Rare Beauties
The faceted gemstone featured in the rhodonite stamp design weighs more than two carats. Held in the collection of the Australian Museum, this stone is a rarity because of its rich red colour, its transparent gem quality and its regal pedigree. Rhodonite can often be found as rose-pink with black dendritic veins or patches of manganese oxide running through it. This gemstone allows for empowerment in reaching one's full potential, focusing on gifts and energies that are outward to the betterment of all. $1 Aluminium Bronze Coin This $1 coin is struck by The Perth Mint from aluminium bronze. Beautiful Colour Reverse Design The coin’s reverse depicts a representation of a rhodonite gem. The design includes The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark. Tuvalu Legal Tender Issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2017 year-date, and the monetary denomination are shown on the coin’s obverse. Presentation Packaging Official Australia Post Stamp Each coin is presented in an illustrated presentation card. Affixed to the envelope is an official Australia Post $1.00 stamp. The stamp is postmarked for the first day of issue and the envelope includes Australia Post’s Seal of Authenticity.
