In the United States, a significant number of private mints produce bullion which is not legal tender and is targeted at investors and not at coin collectors - such as this one.
This tenth-ounce pure gold bullion round was first issued by the Scottsdale Mint in 2024.
The mint says about it: Born in the West, a new gold round that embodies the ethos of the American Spirit of hard work, freedom, and liberty comes to life.
Featured prominently in the foreground of the obverse of this round is the American cowboy riding a bucking bronco. This cowboy pays homage to both the current (Scottsdale, Arizona) and future (Wyoming) manufacturing locations of the Scottsdale Mint.
To the lower right of the cowboy sits a Buffalo privy mark as an added security feature. While the Buffalo is closely associated with US Mint coinage and bullion collectibles, it holds a special place of prominence on the flag of Wyoming, the Cowboy State.
On the reverse of round sits the Scottsdale Lion with the popular cowboy saying “Ride for the Brand” directly below. |
