Information about effigy: Emir Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa of Bahrain

Michael Gaspard Rizzello OBE was a sculptor and designer who won many commissions from the Royal Mint to make portraits for coins and medals. In 1968 he created this portrait of Emir Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa of Bahrain (alternative spellings: Isa ibn Salman Al Khalifah, or Shaikh Isa bin Sulman Al-Khalifa as rendered on a 1995 coin). It was used on commemorative coins as well as higher denomination circulating coins of Bahrain.
