Established by the Chamber of Mines of South Africa in 1920, Rand Refinery is the largest integrated single-site precious metals refining and smelting complex in the world. Synonymous with integrity and quality, the Rand Refinery mark can be found on cast bars, minted bars, minted coins, coin blanks and medallions. The internationally acclaimed Krugerrand is the world’s premium bullion coin with over 60 million in circulation, making it one of Rand Refinery’s top investment products. By law the South African Mint Company is the only company allowed to manufacture South African legal tender coins such as the world famous Krugerrand. All the gold used to manufacture the coins is supplied by Rand Refinery, who has been appointed the sole supplier of bullion Krugerrands to primary distributors both locally and internationally. The word "Krugerrand" is a registered trademark owned by Rand Refinery Limited. Note that mintages quoted for years before 2000 may reflect production figures for the year and not true mintage figures as production may have continued into the new year to complete the order from the previous year. Rand Refinery sales graphs reflect yearly sales only. Dates on the coins are not taken into consideration. |
