Yves Sampo is a master medal engraver in charge of the engraving workshop at Monnaie de Paris (since 2010), the oldest institution in France, which has the function of minting coins. The workshop's activity has certainly evolved with the development of new technologies, but its identity remains closely linked to the ancient tradition of direct engraving. Yves joined the Monnaie de Paris in 1995 through a competitive examination and was able to learn from the great master engravers of the time. His privy mark on coins is a pentagon rosette with stylised letters ag mp ys, for Atelier de Gravure, Monnaie de Paris and Yves Sampo. |
