This set contains five coloured $2 circulating commemorative coins marking the participation of the Australian Olympic Team at the 2016 Summer Olympics (officially the Games of the XXXI Olympiad) held from 5 to 21 August 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The coins have similar designs, with a common feature being a coloured circle around the centre, each coin a different colour - taken together, representing the five coloured rings of the Olympic logo.
The coins (and the set) were released exclusively through the Woolworths Supermarkets chain, and were the first coins in the Royal Australian Mint's "Corporate Program" of issues distributed through exclusive partnerships. |
