This set was issued to mark the 25th anniversary of the British two-pound denomination in bimetallic format, and contains every definitive coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II that has appeared on the UK £2 coin.
It is one of the "hybrid" sets issued occasionally by the Royal Mint, in that it contains both newly minted coins and old editions. The new coin in this set is a special commemorative re-issue of the first definitive £2 coin of the "Technology" type, which is also the only one carrying the Queen's Fifth Effigy by Jody Clark. The set also contains one 1997 coin of the same type (its first year of issue), with her effigy by Raphael Maklouf, and one from a random year between 1998 and 2015 with her portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley.
The first coin is, obviously, in Brilliant Uncirculated grade. The other two have been sourced from circulation and have no guarantee of being in any particular grade. |
