In 2008, the Royal Mint released a very Limited Issue, Emblems of Britain Gold Proof 7-coin collection all struck in 22-carat gold, of the old designs for the coinage of the United Kingdom, giving collectors the opportunity to own a piece of numismatic history.

The set contains all the old circulating coin designs which were supplanted by the new versions designed by Matthew Dent which were introduced in 2008 (£1 to 1p). There is also a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
