This is the standard United Kingdom proof coin set of the year, including the regular circulating coins plus some of the commemorative coins issued throughout the year.
It contains the definitive £2 (Four Nations type), the definitive £1 of the "Bees" type, and the smaller denominations from 50p down to 1p.
After the death of Queen Elizabeth, who ruled for more than 70 years, her son King Charles III ascended the throne.on 8 September 2022. Following the many precedents of new coinage types introduced for new monarchs, the Royal Mint re-designed all circulating denominations to mark his reign. The designs depict plants and wildlife, reflecting the monarch's interest in conservation and nature. This is the second release of the reverse designs in "regular" coinage. They were introduced in October 2023 in a special set with a privy marks on the obverse.
The commemorative coins included in the set are a crown-sized £5 coin marking 125 since the birth of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, a £2 coin commemorating 200 Years of the Modern Railway, a £2 coin marking the 350th anniversary of the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, a 50p coin commemorating World War II, and a 50p celebrating the Red Arrows aerobatics team.
The coins in this version of the set are in Proof FDC grade. An oblong proof medal is also included. |
