In total (counting known proof mintages), 18,332,030 (18 mln) cupronickel shilling coins were minted in New Zealand.

Effigy of the monarch, legend.

Cupronickel shillings were minted during the reigns of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II.

After the Independence of India in 1947, the title "Emperor" was dropped from the legend of King George VI.
