During World War I many Australian women volunteered to serve the Australian Army as nurses, medical workers and ambulance drivers. Despite not being permitted to serve on the front line, their contribution to the war effort was enormously significant and essential to military medical service. $1 Aluminium Bronze Coin The coin is struck by The Perth Mint from aluminium bronze.
