The Perth Mint and Australia Post are pleased to present this commemorative stamp and coin cover. The Tomb of the Unknown Australian Soldier, located in the centre of the Australian War Memorial in Canberra, is the national focus for remembering all Australian servicemen and women who have died in wars. It bears the simple inscription “An Unknown Australian Soldier Killed in the War of 1914–1918” and is a symbolic representation of all the Australian soldiers whose bodies were never recovered and returned home, and which lie in the ground far from their home. $1 Aluminium Bronze Coin This $1 coin is struck by The Perth Mint from aluminium bronze. Anzac Themed Reverse Design The coin’s reverse depicts a soldier in a field of poppies playing the bugle. The design includes the inscription ‘LEST WE FORGET 1918’ and The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark. Australian Legal Tender Issued as legal tender under Australia’s Currency Act 1965, the coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination, and the 2018 year-date. Official Australia Post Stamp and Presentation Card Affixed to the envelope is an official Australia Post 'A Century of Service' $1.00 stamp. The stamp is postmarked with the 10th April 2018, the first date of issue. Each coin is presented in an illustrated presentation card capturing the Australian War Memorial.
