The kangaroo is the largest marsupial surviving on earth today. The animal’s distinctive style of movement, hopping on its hind legs whilst using its large, muscular tail for balance, means it is one of the only animals which is unable to move backwards easily. An unofficial symbol of Australia, the kangaroo features in the Australian national emblem alongside the emu. Proof Quality 99.9% Pure Silver Each coin is struck from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality. Spectacular High Relief 2015 Kangaroo Design The coin's reverse depicts an adult kangaroo bounding across an Australian landscape at dusk, with the moon and trees in the background. The design includes the inscription AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO, The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, and the 2015 year-date. The coin’s high relief reverse and obverse are minted on concave surfaces to ensure the optimum flow of metal is achieved by the strike of the die. Australian Legal Tender The coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965. The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and the monetary denomination, are shown on the coin’s obverse. Issue Limit The Perth Mint will release no more than 19,000 of the Australian Kangaroo 2015 1oz High Relief Silver Proof Coin in this packaging from a maximum mintage of 20,000. The remaining 1,000 coins in the mintage will form part of a four-coin set to be released later in the year. Presentation Packaging and Numbered Certificate The coin is housed in a classic grey display case within an illustrated shipper, and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
