The fourth issue of the 12-part

Dino Thaler Series

is dedicated to the "toughest dinosaur", the

Ankylosaurus

. The series from Austria brings the prehistoric giants back to life. A special feature of the 12-part series is that the motive is highlighted in color and printed with fluorescent colors, so that the dinosaurs glow in the dark. Each coin in the series is dedicated to a prehistoric behemoth and has a denomination of 3 Euro. The motive of the fourth issue shows the impressive Ankylosaurus in color. In the background a primeval landscape and another dinosaur are shown. The design is completed by the inscription "ANKYLOSAURUS 2020". On the reverse of the coin are silhouettes of all following motives in this series. Between the dinosaurs are stylized illustrations of plants. Furthermore there are the inscriptions "Republik Österreich" and "3 Euro". The Ankylosaurus is characterized by its body covered with bony plates, which offered excellent protection against predators such as the Tyrannosaurus Rex. The herbivore lived about 66 to 68 million years ago, in the last phase of the Cretaceous period. The body length of this dinosaur was about 8 m, single specimens could reach a length of up to 10 m.
