The second issue of the 12-part

Dino Thaler Series

is dedicated to the

Mosasaurus

. The series from

Austria

brings the prehistoric giants back to life. The special feature of the 12-part series is that the motive is highlighted in color and printed with fluorescent colors, so that the dinosaurs glow in the dark. Each coin in the series is dedicated to a prehistoric behemoth and has a denomination of 3 Euro. The motive of the second issue depicts the Mosasaurus with its mouth wide open under water. The design is completed by the inscription "MOSASAURUS 2020". On the reverse of the coin are silhouettes of all following motives in this series. Between the dinosaurs are stylized illustrations of plants. Furthermore there are the inscriptions "Republik Österreich" and "3 Euro". The Mosasaurus belonged to the family of marine reptiles. The largest species could reach a total length of up to 18 meters. The first fossil of this giant was found near Maastricht around 1770. The
