3 Euro Dino Thaler Series

of the

Münze Österreich

is dedicated to the "most intelligent dinosaur", the

Deinonychus Antirrhopus

. A special feature of the 12-part series is that the motive is highlighted in color and printed with fluorescent colors, so that the dinosaurs glow in the dark. Each coin in the series is dedicated to a prehistoric behemoth and has a denomination of 3 Euro. The motive of the seventh issue shows the Deinonychus Antirrhopus in color. In the background, another dinosaur - a triceratops - and a primeval forest are visible. The design is completed by the inscription "DEINONYCHUS 2021". On the reverse of the coin are silhouettes of all following motives in this series. Furthermore, the inscriptions "Republic of Austria" and "3 Euro" are also included in the design. Deinonychus, whose name roughly translates as "terror claw," lived about 115 million years ago in the early Cretaceous period. The dinosaur is a close relative of the Velociraptor and like Velociraptor, Deinonychus Antirrhopus was characterized by its high intelligence and speed.
