The Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan proudly presents the fourth issue of the Bhutan Lunar Series – the Bhutan Lunar Boar. Not only known as one of the happiest country, the Kingdom of Bhutan is also popularly known as the Last Shangri-La of the world. The boar is artistically depicted, exuding liveliness and vigour. Its legs and ears are portrayed with large swirls and clouds, emphasizing its robust features. The nose is shaped like an auspicious ‘Ruyi’, blessing the collector with good fortune. The reverse coin design features the Dochula Pass, a mountain pass with 108 memorial chortens, which is located on the way from Thimphu to Punakha. It is built by Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk, the eldest Queen Mother, in memory of 108 Bhutanese soldiers who sacrificed themselves while defending the country.
