The year 2020 is a commemorative one for the Mounties: it’s been 100 years since the Royal North West Mounted police was renamed the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and took on its federal policing responsibilities. Standing tall on the coin’s reverse, the gold-plated Horse and Rider statuette is the stunning embodiment of this milestone and the many others that have made the RCMP what it is today.
