The Cook Islands, a sovereign state in free association with New Zealand, uses two official legal tender currencies. The New Zealand Dollar circulates in parallel with the local Cook Islands Dollar; at the same time, the government also authorises many legal tender coins in the Cook Islands Dollar currency for collector's purposes. The three Pharaohs featured are Akhenaten, Thutmosis III, and Sobekneferu, the first female Pharaoh. They are seen standing next to each other in incredible relief. Behind them are hieroglyphics from the ancient artefact “The Stele of Revealing” which resides in the Boulak Museum in Cairo.
The obverse of this coin is really amazing and shows the great Pyramids of Giza in stunning relief and detail. You can literally count the different layers of brick on each Pyramid! Look closely and you can also see the Sphinx rising off the surface. There are also plenty of other structural details to feast your eyes upon.
