About the Series In 2023, Monnaie de Paris and the famous french pastry chef Pierre Herme join forces to celebrate the art of craftsmanship. Taking up the codes dear to Pierre Hereme, this collection for the first time uses a shaped coin realized of three parts. To create this shaped coin, two blanks were stamped and then shaped with the cavity to give the macaron shape, while inscribing the graphical elements that celebrate the chef. Another blank was then stamped and hollowed out, creating the crown. It's edges were then pressed to give the rounded appearance of the middle of the macaron, the ganache. This same blank is then struck to create slots that allowed the other two blanks to be sealed together without glue. Monnaie de Paris Founded in 1864, not only is Monnaie de Paris France's longest standing institution, but it is also the oldest enterprise in the world. Today, the mint strikes circulation coins for France, as well as beautiful Gold and Silver commemorative coin programs that are each intricately designed works of art. The mint is also home to a museum that hosts exhibitions, tours and workshops as well as the Guy Savoy Restaurant . | ||||||
