Gold Half Gram 2020 Panthera Tigris, Coin from Laos
CoinGold Half Gram 2020 Panthera Tigris

Laos (officially the Lao People's Democratic Republic) has been using the Lao Kip as its currency since 1955. In normal everyday circulation, it is normally served by banknotes and not coins.

The country has however authorised some foreign mints to issue bullion coins under its jurisdiction. These include mini-coins in the the half gram of gold format.

This coin is the part of the Tiger (Panthera Tigris) series of premium bullion coins, and is a "companion coin" to the 20 grams of silver version..

Tigers were once widespread throughout most of the forested areas across Laos, but today they have disappeared from many parts of the country. Nam Et-Phou Louey National Protected Area is one of the few places where tigers can naturally survive outside of zoos.
