The 10 Guilders Gold Coin was one of the last sovereign gold coins on the European continent issued for circulation. The coins were produced in this denomination from 1875 to 1933, and for the majority of that time period featured an effigy of the longest-reigning Dutch monarch, Queen Wilhelmina. Her mother served as regent for a decade and the first coins of Wilhelminas reign to feature her effigy were issued in 1897 when she was just 17 years old. Please note that the date marks and effigies of Wilhelmina can vary, and can also match on the coins you receive when buying more than one.On the obverse of 10 Guilders Gold Coins is an effigy of Queen Wilhelmina. The Royal Dutch Mint issued these coins with varying portraits of Wilhelmina throughout her reign, with the portraits even alternating from left-profile to right-profile relief. Inscriptions on the coins are in Dutch on both sides.The reverse field of 10 Guilders Gold Coins comes with a depiction of the Royal Arms of the Netherlands. This seal includes a rampant lion on a shield that wears a crown and holds a sword in one paw.
