The coin with Black Proof finish was struck from one ounce of 99.9% silver and is limited to only 1,000 pieces worldwide. The motive depicts a female bottlenose dolphin with her calf. The two animals are depicted on a full moon night in the middle of a coral reef. Also included in the design is the inscription “AUSTRALIA AT NIGHT - BOTTLENOSE DOLPHIN”. The combination of the coin's silver color and the black proof finish creates a high-contrast effect that lends the maritime scene a special atmosphere and at the same time emphasizes the varying brightness of the bottlenose dolphin's grey colouring. The reverse shows the portrait of King Charles III and the inscriptions “ONE DOLLAR”, “1OZ 999 SILVER” and “NIUE 2025”.
