Gold Ounce 2024 Liberty and Britannia, Coin from United States - detailed information

In a symmetric pattern at centre, the obverse of the coin depicts Lady Liberty - a symbol of the United States, and Britannia - the female personification of the United Kingdom . They face in opposite directions, like the figures on a playing card.

Liberty is presented as a young woman with flowing hair, holding a flaming torch (overlaid on Britannia). Over her hair, and in the background, seven five-pointed stars. In small letters below the figure, the initials of the designer - JFM (for Joseph Francis Menna).

Facing the other way (so that the coin needs to be rotated to be seen properly), Britannia is shown as a young woman wearing a Corinthian helmet pulled up to reveal her face, holding a trident (overlaid on Liberty), as a symbol of the past maritime glory of England. In small letters below the figure, the initials of the designer - GS, for Gordon Summers.

Around left, the inscription LIBERTY. Around right, the date of issue: 2024.

The reverse design depicts "the sun rising over the Atlantic Ocean, framed by two shores with a Great Basin Bristlecone Pine tree in the west and an English Yew tree in the east, representing both nations and heralding new possibilities for their mutual friendship now and going forward".

On a wave below left, the W mint mark of the West Point Mint. On a wave below right, the initials of the designer: JFM (for Joseph Francis Menna).

Around above, the inscription UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, below which in smaller letters LIBERTY AND BRITANNIA.

Further down, the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM (meaning "Out of many, one" - as a symbol of the unity in diversity that the United States is proud of), AU 24 1 OZ. (one troy ounce of 24-carat, or 24K, gold), and the official motto of the United States, IN GOD WE TRUST.

Below all of this, the denomination, $100 (one hundred dollars).
