This portrait of King Charles III shows the monarch crowned with the Imperial State Crown, facing left. In this case, the crown is depicted as Saint Edward's Crown (and not the Tudor Crown).
The portrait was developed for use in Commonwealth countries and territories in 2023 by Jody Clark, who was at that time a designer for the Commonwealth Mint; he is best known for his Fifth Definitive Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II (the King's mother).
The portrait is shown on the reverse of commemorative coins, and not on the obverse - for which there is a bare-headed (not crowned) version of the king's effigy.
