Libertas (Latin for Liberty) is the Roman goddess and embodiment of liberty. This rendering by Albert Walch was created in 1883 for the newly introduced 20 Francs gold coins of Switzerland. It depicts a female head looking left, with a ribbon of edelweiss flowers in her hair, wearing a diadem with the text LIBERTAS on it. |
