The monarchy of Saint Lucia (the Saint Lucian monarchy) is a system of government in which a hereditary, constitutional monarch is the sovereign of Saint Lucia. The first monarch of Saint Lucia was Queen Elizabeth II, who was also the Sovereign of the Commonwealth realms. The Queen's constitutional roles were mostly delegated to the Governor-General of Saint Lucia.
Royal succession is governed by the English Act of Settlement of 1701, which is part of constitutional law.
Queen Elizabeth II reigned over the separate Saint Lucian monarchy from 22 February 1979 until her death on 8 September 2022. She, along with her husband and other members of the Royal Family undertook various official, ceremonial and representational duties. |
