This set contains four coins of The Australian Nugget series by the Perth Mint issued in 1992. The coins have a common design, and are in the 1/2oz, 1/4oz, 1/10oz, and 1/20oz sizes.
The design differs from the respective bullion coins of the series issued the same year. It features a Nailtailed Wallaby, and not a Common Wallaroo; the series initially featured nuggets but in 1989 started depicting kangaroos, and was eventually renamed the Australian Kangaroo. The set was issued for the American market, and the coins have an American Eagle (as a symbol of the United States) privy mark and no mint mark. Instead of the one-ounce gold coin of the 1992 annual Australian Nugget gold set, this one has a bimetallic (gold and silver) medal.
The set comes in a timber box housed in a leather case, with a numbered rectangular ingot medallion carrying the Perth Mint logo matching the number on the Certificate of Authenticity. |
