This set contains the proof versions of the four different denominations of the American Platinum Eagle coin issued in 2007. The coins were struck by the West Point Mint and have a W mint mark, unlike the bullion coins which were struck by the Philadelphia Mint and have no mint mark.

The proof version is the second in the three-year Branches of Government Series dedicated to the three branches of U.S. government, and is dedicated to the Executive Branch. The reverse design of the coin depicts an American bald eagle with outstretched wings, representing the Executive Branch of the U.S. Government. In front of the eagle, the top part of the Shield of the United States, which has thirteen stars in its upper section (representing the thirteen original states of the union), and thirteen vertical stripes below. Draped across the shield, there is a a ribbon inscribed with FREEDOM on the right.
