Platinum Tenth-Ounce 2007 American Eagle, Proof, Coin from United States - detailed information

Within a plain rim, the obverse of the coin shows the close-up bust of the Statue of Liberty. Around above in large letters, the word LIBERTY is partly obscured by the rays of Liberty's diadem.

In the right field, the date of issue: 2007. On three lines below that, the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST.

The designer's monogram JM, for John M. Mercanti, is above Liberty's shoulder on the left.

Around below left, the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM; translated from Latin, it means "Out of many, one" and signifies unity in diversity.

The reverse design of the coin depicts an American bald eagle with outstretched wings, representing the Executive Branch of the U.S. Government. In front of the eagle, the top part of the Shield of the United States, which has thirteen stars in its upper section (representing the thirteen original states of the union), and thirteen vertical stripes below. Draped across the shield, a ribbon inscribed with FREEDOM on the right.

The designer's signature TC (handwritten T with a wavy top, below the right arm of which a small C - for Thomas (Tom) Cleveland) are on the shield below left; the engraver's initials PH (for Phebe Hemphill) are on the shield below right. The W mint mark of the West Point Mint is on the ribbon below left.

Around above, the inscription THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

Around below, the precious metal content: 1/10 oz. .9995 PLATINUM (one tenth of a troy ounce of 99.95% platinum), followed by the face value $10 (ten U.S. dollars).
