At centre inside a ring the Coat of Arms of the People's Republic of Bulgaria (in 1962 only, the first version: one ribbon under gear wheel at lion's feet, featuring the date of the Communist uprising, 9 IX 1944; 1974 and later: two ribbons, one with date 681 - foundation of Bulgaria, the other one 1944 - year of the communist revolution); along the top edge: НАРОДНА РЕПУБЛИКА (Народна Република - Narodna Republika, People's Republic), along the bottom edge: БЪЛГАРИЯ (България - Bulgaria).
In 1974, the font of the lettering was changed to a more "modern" style but the legend remained the same.
In 1981 only, the legend was changed to ХИЛЯДА И ТРИСТА ГОДИНИ БЪЛГАРИЯ (Хиляда и триста години България - Hilyada i trista godini Bulgaria, meaning One thousand and three hundred years [since the foundation of] Bulgaria). |
