Coin Type | Decade and Florin (Pattern) |

|
The florin was introduced into circulation in 1849 as a first step towards decimal coinage. Before that, a couple of patterns were prepared in 1848. The denomination proposed for the coin was a decade - defined as a tenth of a pound or 100 milles; it was later renamed to florin. |
