Australia has two mints, the Royal Australian Mint (which also makes the country's circulating coinage) and the Perth Mint, which are both very active in the bullion coinage space; coins issued by them are legal tender.
They sometimes also strike bullion and commemorative objects of precious metal which are not legal tender. One of these formats, targeted at collectors, is the silver foil - a large thin rectangle weighing more than than one troy ounce, usually with a commemorative theme.
This Back to the Future 35g Silver Foil featuring the DeLorean Time Machine Blueprint is a collector’s edition by The Coin Company, as part of a series dedicated to the famous movie.
The company says about it: Crafted from 35g of 99.9% silver, the foil fuses colour and engraving to portray the iconic Doc Brown's Time Machine from the Back to the Future trilogy. To celebrate the significance of 88mph - the speed the DeLorean must reach to initiate time travel, only 588 of 2021 Back to the Future Marty McFly and Doc Brown - 35g Pure Silver Foil will be released worldwide. |
