At centre, the obverse of the coin displays the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Cameroon. It features a shield divided in three parts by two diagonal lines starting from the centre of the upper rim. In the central section, an upright sword and scales are superimposed on the outline of the map of the country, above which there is a five-pointed star. Behind the shield, two crossed bundles of rods with axes in the middle (fasces). Around above, the motto PAIX TRAVAIL PATRIE in French, below which the same in English: PEACE WORK FATHERLAND. On a ribbon around below, the name of the country in English: REPUBLIC OF CAMEROON, below which in larger letters the same in French: REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN.
In large letters around above, the name of the country in French: REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN. Around below, on two lines the face value: 500 FRANCS CFA (five hundred Central African CFA Francs).
The date of issue 2023 is above the Coat of Arms. Below it on its right side, the small MW mint mark of the Mint of Poland (m over W), for Mennica Warszawska (Mint of Warsaw). Below it on the left, the hallmark Ag 999 (99.9% silver; "Ag" is abbreviated from Argentum, the Latin word for silver, and is internationally used to mark silver coins and jewellery).
