Silver Ounce 2018 Imperial Dragon, Coin from Cameroon - detailed information

Within an ornate border, the obverse of the coin displays the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Cameroon. It features a shield divided in three parts by two diagonal lines starting from the centre of the upper rim. In the central section, an upright sword and scales are superimposed on the outline of the map of the country, above which there is a five-pointed star. Behind the shield, two crossed bundles of rods with axes in the middle (fasces). On a ribbon around below, the name of the country in English: REPUBLIC OF CAMEROON, below which in larger letters the same in French: REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN.

Around above, the name of the country in French: REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN. In smaller letters above the coat of Arms, the date of issue 2018. Around below, the face value: 500 FRANCS CFA (five hundred Central African CFA Francs).

Divided by the face value around below is an inscription specifying the metal content: 1 TROY OZ 999 SILVER (one troy ounce of 99.9% silver).

Within an ornate border, the reverse of the coin depicts a Chinese dragon holding the Chinese character 聖 (shèng), which means "divine" or "imperial majesty."

The characters above it (fu on the right and bi on the left) generally signify "to add" or "to support." In this case they refer to the dragon, a well-known symbol of imperial authority.
