Saint Helena is a small island in the South Atlantic Ocean which is part of the British overseas territory of Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha. The currency of the island is the Saint Helena pound, fixed at parity with the pound sterling. The island has authorised some private mints to issue coins under its jurisdiction, which come in a variety of sizes - including in the large five ounces of gold (5 oz gold) format, denominated as £5.
This coin commemorates the 250th Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party.
The mint says about it:
On December 16th 1773, American colonists fought back against unfair British taxation with a peaceful but powerful protest that became one of the first acts in the American revolution. The 250th Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party is celebrated by a range of limited-edition coins with an exclusive new design by the American coin artist, Joel Iskowitz. His design captures the scene as, guided by the lamplight of one of the leading Sons of Liberty, hundreds of men disguised as Native Americans boarded three ships and poured 342 chests of East India Company tea into the icy waters of Boston Harbour. |

The reverse of the coin depicts men in American Indian headdresses emptying chests of tea from the decks of sailing ships into Boston Harbour; the chests carry the East India Company cypher. In the foreground on the left, a man holding a lamp.

Between the two inscriptions, the EIC mint mark of the East India Company; the letters are separated by arrows radiating from the centre around which they are situated.
