This legend is displayed on coinage of Niue. Niue is a small Pacific nation in free association with New Zealand since 1974. The Niue Constitution Act of 1974 vests executive authority in Her Majesty the Queen in Right of New Zealand and in the Governor-General of New Zealand. On coins where the Queen's effigy is shown, the legend is in her name. The form "NIUE" is only used when the coin carries the Coat of Arms of New Zealand or the Public Seal of Niue, and not the effigy of the monarch. | |
