This coin set was issued by the (then newly founded) Royal Australian Mint to advertise the first decimal Australian coins, which were struck in 1966 as part of the transition from the pre-decimal Australian Pound.

These two-coin cards were sold at the mint shop to visitors: tourists and school children for 5 cents. The mint made 43,100 packs but many of them ended up being broken open and spent making it hard for collectors to find good quality packs now.
